Gunung Mulu National Park near Miri, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site includes the incredible caves and karst formations in a mountainous region of equatorial rainforest setting. The park is famous for its caves and the expeditions were mounted to protect them and their surrounding rain forest, especially the Royal Geographic expedition of 1977 - 1978, saw more than 100 scientists in the field for 15 months.

Within Gunung Mulu National Park is the world's largest natural enclosed space - Sarawak chamber in Gua Nasib Bagus. It is 2300 feet (700 meters) long, 1300 feet (396 m) wide and at least 230 feet (70 metres) high, according to the guides, it is large enough to fit Peter jumbojets or more inside. Other notable caves are Benarat Cavern, Deer Cave, Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave, through the sharing of a long underground river go through the park

Today Mulu continue to retain the sense of adventure in connection with its initial exploration by providing adventure cave research and other adventure activities. The primary focus, however, has focused on the promotion of raising the awareness of the importance of the park and its environment through the provision of eco-tourism activities that contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of the parks values. Accommodation is available at the five-star luxury resort Royal Mulu Resort, or are there cheaper accommodations on the river. The park HQ also has limited accommodation.

Mulu is a very inaccessible area, the only practical way in and out is through the air, mainly from Miri airport. It is possible to travel to the area by river boat, but it requires a long chartered boat for the last part - and the whole journey through the river would take around 12 hours to complete from Miri, while the flight takes only 30 minutes.

The National Park is named after Mount Mulu, the second highest mountain in Sarawak.
